Archived from groups: alt>pets>guinea-pigs (more info?)

we recently got two kittens who are working out just fine. we also
put lids on the piggie cages so they cannot get in. both kittens sit
for hours around the pig cage, I think just trying to figure out just
what they are and how to get in the cage. the pigs seem to not care
very much about being watched. one even climbed up and sniffed the
cats nose. no sign of any kind of stress that I have noticed.

I know that someday a cat is going to try and get her arm in as far as
it can go to swipe at a pig, but other than that I don't see how they
could cause any injury. the piggies don't seem bothered at all by
their visitors.

the kittens only have access to the cages when everyone is home so
that should not be a problem.

anyone found a way to get the cats to give it up and forget about
them, or are they going to be a 5 year or so challenge for them?

Craig

I have two piggies and 12 cats.. the cats tend to ignore the piggies. If
you can socialize the kittens to the piggies, you shouldn't have any
problems. The kittens will probably just get in the cage and lay down...
especially if it's someplace they've not been allowed to go.

Fat guinea pigs - I have two guinea pigs. I feed them once in the morning (pellets, alfa treats and timothy hay). And once at night (pellets, veggies and more hay). They're getting fat. Am I not supposed to be feeding them so much? Every time I feed them the alfa..

My dog ate my guinea-pigs - This was bad.Nobody at home, somehow the cage was open , the dog (a huge Doberman) got them and ate both. s**t. Should I punish my dog?

how many guinea-pigs are too many - I had a friend who had 3 guinea-pigs in a 2x4 foot cage. The female got pregnant and had several babies. They gave all the babies away except 2. That left them with a total of 5 guinea-pigs. They tried to keep up with changeing the bedding and such..

I eat guinea pigs - sell me some? doS
